      <image:caption>Dionne V. McLaughlin, Ed.D. is the Executive Director of Critical Reflections on Race and Equity Initiative (CRREI) and an Associate Professor at North Carolina Central University in the Curriculum and Instruction Department. She is a British-born Jamaican educator who is an experienced bilingual high school and elementary school principal and K-12 Director. She has 17 years of experience teaching, a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and a Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Recent publications: Book: Personalized Principal Leadership Practices: Eight Strategies for Leading Equitable, High Achieving Schools, Teacher Education Journal of South Carolina article: Personalized Principal Leadership Practices, Corwin book Insights: How Expert Principals Make Difficult Decisions, Book Chapter: New South Realities: Demographics, Diversity and Cultural Capital in The Sage Guide to Educational Leadership and Management (Fenwick English) an NCPEA article: How Administrators Can Improve Schools by Learning from the Experiences of African American and Latino High School Students, and a Book Chapter: Exemplary Leadership in Diverse Cultural Contexts in The Springer Handbook on Promoting Social Justice in Education (Rosemary Papa). Dr. McLaughlin has led workshops on culturally responsive teaching, and making effective leadership decisions for teachers, principals and assistant principals. Dr. McLaughlin has also taught Anti-racism and Effective School Practices for All Students for K-12 administrators and teachers from 9 school districts, designed and taught Racism in America – A Contemporary and Historical Study, led Culturally Responsive Pedagogy Professional Development for all CHCCS principals and for teachers in 8 CHCCS schools, chaired the CHHS Equity Team and served as a member of the CHCCS District Equity Leadership Team. In addition, she taught Organizational Development and Diversity for School Leaders at Fayetteville State and at North Carolina Central University, she developed an Equity Certificate, created a new course- Leading High Achieving, Equitable Schools for African American and Latino Students and taught Community Relations: Building Social Capital for School Change with a focus on preparing educators to connect with families of color: the role of race and privilege in schools.</image:caption>

She was an Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of Dayton, an Assistant Professor of Curriculum &amp; Instruction at Western Illinois University, a Career Technology Intervention Coordinator in Fulton County Schools, and an Inclusion teacher in Fulton County. She earned a Bachelor of Science. in Communications Disorders and a Master's of Education in Special Education from Auburn University. She later earned an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University and holds an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University. Her research interests include social emotional learning and culturally responsive pedagogy. When she’s not working, she enjoys traveling. Her favorite destinations are the Caribbean or the beach. She’s also a budding cellist. She began playing six years ago.</image:caption>

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Fayetteville State University and her Master's of School Administration from North Carolina Central University. This is her 6th year as an administrator and she currently serves as the Principal for Smith Middle School - Chapel Hill-Carrboro City schools. She has served as a classroom teacher, interventionist, affinity group leader, and equity champion at McDougle Elementary. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. This is her 26th year in education and it has been a rewarding career and an amazing journey. She has been recognized as Teacher of the Year two times throughout her career as a classroom teacher.       <image:caption>Dr. Kecia Leathers Rogers is a highly motivated and results oriented educator with twenty-six years of experience in Durham Public Schools. Dr. Rogers, a native of Durham, North Carolina is married with two children. Dr. Rogers has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, Master of Arts in Elementary Education as well as a Master of School Administration and Supervision from North Carolina Central University. She earned a Doctor of Education in Leadership from High Point University. Dr. Rogers taught ten years at Southwest Elementary school before being selected as a prestigious North Carolina Principal’s Fellow. In addition, Dr. Rogers has nine years of experience working as a web designer, course developer and Early Childhood undergraduate instructor at North Carolina Central University. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Leadership is her passion. Dr. Rogers has twelve years of teaching experience, two years of experience as a middle school assistant principal, six years of experience as a successful elementary principal and six years of experience as an effective middle school principal for a total of 26 years in education. Dr. Rogers contends, all of her experiences as a teacher, administrator, wife, and mother have prepared her for the challenging yet rewarding profession as an inspiring visionary and strong instructional leader. One of the first things you will notice about Dr. Rogers is that she is very much a teacher at heart and by action. First and foremost, Dr. Rogers believes school is about students and learning. “Everything we do and the decisions we make are based on our students’ needs.” She loves children and enjoys being in the classroom. Dr. Rogers is a servant leader and views herself as a leader of leaders. She strongly believes students, teachers, families and the community should be inspired and empowered to act within a school community. Leading with her heart, head and hands are key characteristics of her leadership style. As an instructional leader, her mission is to put students’ needs first while promoting academic excellence and closing achievement gaps. Fostering a collaborative learning community in which all stakeholders problem-solve and analyze data to meet the individual needs of every learner is her commitment. Dr. Rogers’ personal mantra is to Engage Students, Support Staff, Involve Parents, Accept No Excuses, &amp; Pass it on!</image:caption>
