Kara Johnson
Kara Johnson is originally from Minnesota and is a first-generation college graduate. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from North Carolina Central University and later earned her Master of School Administration from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. Johnson is a doctoral student at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a middle school administrator in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, with more than 12 years of experience in K-12 education. She has served in both teaching and school leadership roles at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Her work and research focuses on fostering student sense of belonging, strengthening equitable school leadership practices, and improving outcomes for historically marginalized students. Ms. Johnson values collaboration with families, educators, and community organizations and looks forward to continuing work that supports students, schools, and the broader community through her work with CRREI.
